Uxbridge residents will have a new way to cast their ballots in this fall’s municipal election, with Uxbridge Online Voting allowing eligible voters to participate electronically from home or while on the go.
The Township of Uxbridge says online voting is being introduced for the 2026 municipal election as a convenient and accessible option for residents.
Instead of having to visit a traditional polling location to cast a ballot, eligible electors will be able to use personalized voting information provided by the township to vote electronically during an extended voting period.
Voting will open at 9 a.m. on Oct. 13 and continue until 8 p.m. on Oct. 26, giving residents nearly two weeks to participate.
Voter Information Letters Coming in October
Eligible Uxbridge electors who are registered on the voters’ list should receive a voter information letter through the mail in early October.
The letter will contain the information required to participate in Uxbridge Online Voting, including a personalized PIN used to cast an electronic ballot.
Residents are being encouraged to confirm that their information appears correctly on the voters’ list before the election.
Those who need to check their registration can contact or visit the Township of Uxbridge municipal office.
The municipal office is located at 51 Toronto St. S. in Uxbridge and is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Residents can also contact the township at 905-852-9181.
What If You Don’t Have Internet Access?
The introduction of online voting does not mean residents without internet access or an electronic device will be unable to participate.
The township says voters who need assistance can visit town hall or a designated voter assistance centre during the voting period.
This option will also be available to residents who have internet access but would simply feel more comfortable receiving in-person assistance with the electronic voting process.
Information about voter assistance centre locations and operating hours will be available through the township.
Extended Voting Period for Uxbridge Residents
One of the significant differences with Uxbridge Online Voting is the length of time residents will have to cast their ballots.
The voting period begins on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 9 a.m. and closes on Monday, Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.
Eligible voters can therefore cast their ballots at a convenient point during that period rather than relying solely on a traditional Election Day voting window.
Residents should keep their voter information letter and personalized PIN secure because those details will be required to vote electronically.
Residents Encouraged to Check Voter Registration
Before voting begins, residents should ensure they are registered correctly.
Checking ahead of time can help avoid registration problems once the voting period is underway.
The township is also expected to provide additional information about registration, voting instructions and voter assistance centres as the election approaches.
The introduction of online voting represents a significant change for Uxbridge residents participating in the 2026 municipal election.
With voting available electronically for nearly two weeks and assistance available for residents who need it, the township says the system is intended to make participation convenient, accessible and user-friendly.
Eligible residents should watch for their voter information letters in early October and confirm their voter registration before Uxbridge Online Voting begins on Oct. 13.
