Outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers in Durham Region are invited to explore local forest trails later this month during a free guided hiking event in Uxbridge.

The upcoming Free Guided Hike – Uxbridge – Secord Forest (Conc. 3) is scheduled for May 25, 2026, from 9:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Hosted by the Oak Ridges Trail Association, the event welcomes both members and non-members interested in spending the morning hiking through scenic forest and meadow trails in the Uxbridge area.

According to organizers, the guided outing will follow portions of ORTA Map 5 – Uxbridge and feature a slow-to-moderate hiking pace over approximately two hours.

Participants attending the Free Guided Hike – Uxbridge – Secord Forest (Conc. 3) will explore areas within Secord Forest and the nearby Goodwood Tract, two well-known natural spaces within Durham Region.

The route includes forest paths, meadow landscapes, scenic pond views, and a few smaller hills along the trail.

Organizers describe the hike as a “there and back” walk suitable for participants looking for a relaxed outdoor recreation experience while enjoying the region’s natural scenery.

Guided hiking events like the Free Guided Hike – Uxbridge – Secord Forest (Conc. 3) continue growing in popularity across Ontario as more residents seek outdoor activities focused on wellness, exercise, and environmental appreciation.

Uxbridge has become widely recognized for its extensive trail systems, conservation lands, and outdoor recreation opportunities, attracting hikers, cyclists, and nature enthusiasts throughout Durham Region and the Greater Toronto Area.

The Oak Ridges Trail Association regularly organizes guided hikes and stewardship activities aimed at promoting environmental awareness, trail accessibility, and appreciation for Ontario’s natural landscapes.

Forest hiking trails in the Uxbridge area are especially popular during spring months as warmer temperatures and seasonal growth create ideal conditions for outdoor exploration.

Events such as the Free Guided Hike – Uxbridge – Secord Forest (Conc. 3) also provide opportunities for residents to connect with others in the community while learning more about local ecology and trail systems.

Organizers encourage participants to wear appropriate footwear and prepare for changing trail conditions depending on weather leading up to the event date.

The meeting location for the hike is listed using GPS coordinates at 44.0177, -79.1826.

Free outdoor recreation programming remains an important part of Durham Region’s community events calendar, particularly during spring and summer when residents increasingly seek accessible activities in parks, forests, and conservation areas.

The Oak Ridges Trail Association says both experienced hikers and newcomers are welcome to attend the guided walk.
