Durham adult graduates were celebrated at Archbishop Anthony Meagher Catholic Continuing Education Centre’s October 8 graduation ceremony, following a school year in which 412 adult students earned their Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

Another 122 students received Personal Support Worker certificates during the 2025–2026 school year, according to an October 15 report from the Durham Catholic District School Board. The board lists the two achievements separately.

Ceremony recognizes persistence

Staff, special guests, relatives and friends joined the graduates for an afternoon ceremony and a reception in the church hall.

Valedictorian Carl reflected on the determination needed to finish school while managing responsibilities beyond the classroom. He thanked the teachers, administrators, families and friends who supported the class.

His remarks recognized the challenge of combining employment and family commitments with adult studies, and encouraged graduates to carry compassion and resilience into their communities.

The figures describe the full school year; the board did not say that every recipient attended the ceremony.
