Whitby candidate Niki Lundquist is the guest on episode 60 of People of Durham, adding another local candidate conversation ahead of the October 26 municipal election.
The episode’s publisher identifies Lundquist as a Centre Ward regional councillor candidate. She currently serves as Whitby’s Centre Ward local councillor, according to the town’s official council page. Those are different positions: the interview concerns her bid for regional office, not an announcement that she already holds it.
Daily Durham’s October 20 report says the conversation covers taxes and affordability, housing, homelessness, the Dundas Street bus lane, growth near Port Whitby GO, data centres and warehouse employment. These are descriptions of the interview’s subject matter, not independently adopted council policies or new municipal decisions.
The town’s biography confirms that Lundquist is a human rights and labour lawyer and previously served as a Durham District School Board trustee. The new podcast appearance is separate from earlier reporting about her council work.
Residents can watch the full interview through the original People of Durham link below. Daily Durham reports that the series does not endorse candidates and presents the guests’ own views. Coverage of an appearance likewise does not constitute an endorsement.
