Westney Road lane restrictions and temporary closures are scheduled in north Ajax for three days as crews replace a culvert and complete road improvements.

The Region of Durham says the daytime work will run from Wednesday, October 14 through Friday, October 16. Weather could change the schedule.

Where drivers will encounter the work

The affected section of Westney Road North, also known as Regional Road 31, runs from about 100 metres south of Concession Road 5 to about 100 metres north of Greenwood Road.

One lane is expected to remain open at all times. Traffic control personnel will direct vehicles through the work zone when lane restrictions or temporary closures are in effect.

Culvert, ditching and paving planned

The Region says the project includes culvert replacement, ditching improvements and paving. Temporary lane closures will be needed as the final asphalt surface is completed.

The work supports nearby development and is intended to maintain a safe roadway for travellers and construction crews. Motorists should allow extra time, follow directions from traffic personnel and use caution around workers, pedestrians and cyclists.

Residents can check the Region’s live construction and traffic map for current conditions before travelling. The schedule may shift if weather prevents crews from completing the work safely.
